19 of the Russian's 21 titles have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his initial title for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult year, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and eventually separating with long-term coach Cervara.

Presently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of that year.

Success also indicates he has won 21 championships at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to win a title is particularly special," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the first title I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's retrieving play style and regular reactions on court had caused commentators to doubt if his skill to compete at the top level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, supported by an enhanced serve.

He came back from a break down in the initial set against the tricky opponent, winning four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his first professional victory, seized the initiative to force a final set.

He rescued 4 initial break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner clinched victory with a point at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
